 The renewable energy sector in India is booming. Indians are becoming increasingly aware of the side effects of greenhouse gases and the impact of our carbon footprint on global warming. What is net metering?  

To explain plainly, when a solar power plant generates more than consumption, the excess solar electricity can be sent back to the grid for storage or distribution. The owner of solar panels can get credit or money for the excess electricity generated and those who want to use solar energy can do so by paying for it, just the way an electricity bill is paid.

In India, there are several want to use solar power but do not have the means to set up a solar power plant. Some might have the capital, but not the space that a solar power plant requires, while some might have the land but not the capital. With net metering in India, clean energy can be distributed to those who want to use clean energy. As a result, more people will use solar energy and reduce the dependence on fossil fuels or non-renewable source of energy.

The main maintenance cost in a solar power setup consists of the batteries and generator. However, with net metering, you wouldn’t need any of it. Therefore, by opting for net metering, you can save on maintenance costs as well.  `

By allowing clean energy to be distributed amongst others through net metering in India, you are helping the world become more sustainable. More use of solar energy will help us fight climate change and preserve fossil fuels.
